Achieving Resilience
There are two ways of achieving resilience: redundancy or flexibility.
The difference is subtle. Take any organisation that wishes to implement a reasonable level of business availability, they might chose to provide redundancy by duplicating a critical process or systems. Similarly, they might establish flexibility arrangements with an outsourcing organisation whereby the solution can be delivered with similar results.
In both situations, there is an element of “time” which suggest resilience can be measured by how quickly an organisation can rebuild, replace staff, replace systems, replace resources, etc.
The real question that you will need to consider is
1. If you suffer from a sever event, how quickly can you recover
2. If you suffer from a sever event, will that put your business in jeopardy?
